GCSE Media Studies
The Media Studies course at Brannel aims to teach a great balance of skills and theory both for the OCR GCSE Media Studies exam as well as for those pupils who wish to go into media as a career. The course is divided into three parts: two controlled assessments and one exam.
During the course we look at a wide range of aspects of media theory, from the historical, philosophical, cultural and technical in order to give students a well-rounded understanding of this exciting and important subject.
On the Skills side the course teaches the skills needed for print, video, internet and audio editing/creation in a very “hands-on” way.
Brannel School is lucky to have a state of the art media suit which complements its impressive collection of computers, cameras and audio and video editing equipment. The media studies course makes full use of this equipment and technology.
At Brannel we are very fortunate to have access to the latest ICT equipment. As a department we encourage our students to:
•Use ICT resources effectively and independently
