On Monday 7th January, students planted two apple trees as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative.
The Queen’s Green Canopy is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.
Everyone is being encouraged to play their part to enhance our environment by planting trees during the official planting season between October 2021 to March 2022.
Two students, Jaydon and Kiera, who are taking part in Brannel’s Duke of Edinburgh programme were selected to plant the trees. Both have completed their Bronze award and are starting the Silver award this year.
Mrs Frew, Brannel’s Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator said, “This is a great thing for us to do as a school and particularly special to involve Duke of Edinburgh students in the tree planting to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee.”
