Transition

Welcome to Brannel!
We are excited to welcome you and your family to Brannel School and are delighted that you will be joining us from September 2024.

We know what an important decision choosing a secondary school is and we are thrilled that you have chosen to become part of the Brannel School community.  At Brannel, we take pride in our promise to help the students ‘be the best they can be’ and we cannot wait to see, and be part of, the journey your child is about to embark on.

Excellence, community and creativity are woven into everything we do, in everything we expect and in every aspect of school life. By choosing to join us, you are making a commitment to being part of this. We believe that an environment of high expectations and high standards allows all students to be successful and leave Brannel with the tools needed to lead a life of choice and opportunity.

Together, we will work to ensure that your child takes the opportunities on offer to develop into a confident, successful and happy young adult, ready to go out and take on the world!

For those of you starting with us at Brannel School in September 2024, this page will be updated over the coming months with all the information you will need to know. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the transition process or starting in Year 7, then please feel free to email our Transition Lead – Mrs Rebecca Blizzard ([email protected]

We look forward to meeting you very soon!

Important Dates for Transition 2024

Essential Enrolment Data Request

Please check for an email from our admissions platform. This is the secure online system that we use to gather all necessary details for your child’s enrolment. The process should take approximately 20-minutes to complete.

Transition day – 1st July 2024

All students starting at Brannel in September are invited to attend a transition day. This day offers the children the opportunity to become familiar with the site and routines, experience some fun taster lessons and get to know some of their teachers and other students in their year group. You will receive more information about this day closer to the time.

Induction Evening – 1st July 2024

On Monday 1st July, we would like to invite you and your child to our Induction Evening. This will be an opportunity to find out important information about your child’s transition, to meet some of the staff and ask any questions that you may have. You will also have the opportunity to purchase an induction pack which will include the school tie.

Enhanced Transition

Students with additional needs, or who require a more personalised transition, will be invited to an enhanced transition. We will liaise with primary teachers about who to invite. If you feel your child would benefit from this, please let their primary school teacher know.

Parent Q&A Session

Each primary school will be visited by a member of staff from Brannel to discuss the school in more detail and to answer any questions the students may have. Following each of these events there will be an opportunity for parents to pop in and meet the member of staff if they so wish.

Dates will be confirmed and added to this page very soon.

Student surveys:

Getting to know your child better

For the next step in our transition process, we are asking to get to know your child better via two short survey forms below. One survey is for parents and carers to complete, whilst the other is for your child to complete with your assistance.

The information you share in the forms below will be used by our transition team and September’s Year 7 tutors to make your child’s step up to secondary school as smooth as possible.
