At Brannel School we believe that good mental health and well-being can best be realised by creating a whole school culture that seeks to promote positive relationships throughout the school.
The emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people is just as important as their physical health
Good mental health allows young people to develop their resilience to cope with whatever life throws at them, and grow into well-rounded, healthy adults. Most children grow up mentally healthy, but surveys suggest that more children and young people have problems with their mental health today than 30 years ago. That may be due to changes in the way we live now and how that affects the experience of growing up.
We are constantly striving to improve our offer for our students. We use the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools award to help us do this. We have currently achieved the Carnegie Silver Award.
