During October Half Term, three students competed in the LEAF National Final in Wales. Brannel was the first school in South West England to reach the final of this competition.
Linking Environmental and Farming (LEAF) aims to inspire and enable sustainable farming that is prosperous, enriches the environment and engages local communities. It’s education programme brings farming into a learning context and nurtures an appreciation of farming in everyday life.
The national final was held at LLYSFASI college in North Wales and gave students the opportunity to get hands-on experience of farming.
Lead teacher, Mrs Carbis said “It was a really good weekend with students tractor driving, completing forestry work and getting up to milk the cows. It was hands on, and talks were given from local businesses and industry experts.”
Schools were invited to create a video about farming and the environment for the competition and Brannel School was then shortlisted for the final in Wales. You can watch the school’s video entry below.
