National Citizens Service

Designed especially for 16 and 17 year olds, the NCS experience will give you a clearer idea of what you want from your future.

Show yourself exactly what you’re made of!

On NCS, you’ll mix with a new crowd, and take on fresh challenges together. Before you know it, you’ll be rooting for each other, as you all tackle your own little hurdles.

Along the way, you’ll also get a taste for independence and pick up skills that’ll help you smash your future goals.

And if that’s not enough for you, you’ll also be given a platform to have your voice heard and pursue a passion project.

The NCS experience might last just a few weeks, but the impact? That lasts a LOT longer.

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?

A typical 3 week summer programme for Brannel Year 11 students:

Be Epic – A week residential, away from home sleeping in tents and cabins. There BBQs, evening games and chill out time with friends. In the day you will be kayaking, rafting, scaling climbing walls, abseiling and navigating high rope and low rope courses with sip wires.

Live Life – A week of skill boosting sessions (non-residential.) You will be local to home taking part if session to boost confidence and leadership. Understand more about being independent through cooking, budgeting and wellbeing workshops. Feel more prepared for your next steps with inspirational speakers, C.V. workshops and team challenges.

Do Good – This week gives you the chance to give back and engage with your local community and surrounding towns. You can choose to help a local charity, work with an organisation, raise awareness for a local cause or raise money for something important for the community. This is where you create and deliver something unique that will give you real content for your personal statement and your next job or college interview, so you have a great story to tell about the skills you have learnt.

HOW MUCH IS IT?

Any programme you choose will cost no more than £50 to take part – we have bursaries available too so this contribution amount can be reduced.

This contribution covers all the accommodation, activities and food!
