Results Day 2020

In an uncertain time, with unprecedented changes, we were delighted to provide some certainty for our students by sharing their GCSE results with them on Thursday. The students have worked extremely hard over the last five years, showing great determination and grit. “It’s particularly rewarding at this time to see them receive the fruits of those efforts and to know that they have what they need to move on to the next stage of their education.  We of course wish them well in their future endeavours and look forward to hearing of their successes” said Headteacher, Mr Chris Liles.

There were some notable exceptional results from this year group.  The top performing student was Richard Gregor, who achieved 7 grade 9s (English Language and Literature, History, Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and a grade 7 in Drama.

Miya Conroy was pleased to receive six grade 9s (English Language and Literature, History, Combined Science and Maths), 8 in Spanish and 7 in Drama.

Hermione Crowle achieved 999 in Science. Hermione will be studying Science at Truro College and plans to become an Aerospace Engineer.

Rona Hunt achieved the greatest progress in the year group, with 99 in Combined Science and top marks in Construction.  She plans to pursue a career in Physics and will be studying Maths and Science subjects at college.

Twins, Hope and Charity, were thrilled with their results and are looking forward to starting college in September.  Hope achieved a Distinction* in Hospitality and Catering and wasted no time during lockdown in starting a small business creating bespoke cakes.  Charity showed one of the highest levels of progress in the year group and is planning to study to become a teacher.

There were smiles from Jack Channing, Elijah Willis, Charlie Lyne and Joseph Turk who were awarded straight 9s for Science.  All are looking forward to starting college soon and moving on to new challenges.

Talented musicians: Jodie Bragg, Lucy Clemo, Beth Gribble, Alex Hall-Walsh, Chanel Wheeler and Jack Widdows all received top marks in Music, a course that demands a lot of hard work and dedication across the two years.

Mr Liles said “It‘s often the students who have overcome significant challenges throughout their time at school who impress the greatest. Our aim is to enable all of our students to be the best they can be, regardless of the barriers they may face. So to the class of 2020 from all at Brannel School, we want to say Well done, your resilience at this turbulent time has been outstanding.  You are an amazing and talented group of individuals”.
