On Friday 8th April, Brannel School held a special non-school uniform day to help raise funds for people in need from Ukraine. We raised £568 for the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal through donations and a bake sale. Students wore blue and yellow to represent the colours of the Ukrainian flag. Nationally, 42% of LGBTQ+ students face bullying in schools (Stonewall; 2017) and are at greater risk of some types of abuse such as homophobic, biphobia, transphobic bullying or hate crime. Brannel School celebrated the 25th Anniversary of World Book Day by encouraging students to discover their love for reading all year round.
On Monday 7th January, students planted two apple trees as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative.
